Young adults need many outlets for expression, and sports represent one important and healthy opportunity to do so.  Middleburg Academy’s athletic program is unique to high schools in its encouragement of broad participation and outstanding results.  We consider interscholastic athletics an integral part of the educational experience and field nineteen interscholastic programs in twelve different sports - see the complete list.  Our “no cut” policy means every student is invited to play on a team, regardless of prior experience.  Many students learn to play a sport for the first time, while others go on to play at the college level.

Typically 85% of our student body participates in at least one sport each year, and many play two or even three.  We understand that important lessons take place on the playing fields, as well as in the classroom.  Sports at Middleburg Academy include learning to exert oneself fully, increasing fitness and fortitude, working together as a team, winning or losing with dignity, and balancing sports with other academic commitments.

Broad participation enriches our success.  As testimony to the strength of our athletes and coaches, Middleburg Academy boasts state championships in Boys Lacrosse, Boys and Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball and Boys Baseball.  Dedicated coaches also assist individual students in competing for athletic awards and in winning athletic scholarships. Middleburg Academy’s playing fields and tennis courts are perfectly situated on our beautiful campus to highlight our breath-taking views.  We also have our own mountain bike/cross-country trail.  Some teams also enjoy superb off-site facilities, including use of the prestigious Creighton Farms as our home golf course.
